Roger Costa– Rooftop Films presented the premiere of the hilarious comedy “Tangerine” last Tuesday(7) night to a crowd pleased with the debauchery of the comedy and the social issues depicted in it by writer-director Sean Baker. The event took place at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice Building, under the stars and pleasant weather. Rooftop Films brings live music and underground and independent films outdoors to audiences in New York and Chicago. Director Sean Baker and actors James Ransone and Karren Karagulian participated in a live conversation with the guests after the film was shown. The film is the first to be shot entirely using I-Phone cameras and audiences raved the stylized aesthetic of the angles and the infuriating soundtrack. The story about a transgender on a furiously funny quest for her pimp who broke her heart will open in theaters in New York this Friday, July 10th at Film Society of Lincoln Center.
