Final days to discover the latest works by one of America’s most inventive contemporary dance companies, Pilobolus. Performing thru Sunday, July 13, the exuberant, athletic and resistant dancers embody “Other Worlds Collection”, a new show featuring premieres and some of their vast repertory, including “Tales from the Underworld”, “Flight” set to music by Paul Sullivan, and “Lamentation” a re-interpretation of Martha Graham’s work. The third annual presentation of Silent Movie Week will feature seven recent silent film restorations over the course of seven consecutive evenings, from July 30 through August 5. This year’s presentation includes Walter Ruttman’s “Berlin: Symphony of a City” (1927), presented in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. The screening will be preceded by a musical performance by cellist Derek Louie, a graduate of the Perlman Music Program and the Juilliard School. Other highlights include Charles Chaplin’s “The Gold Rush” (1925), restored by Italy’s L’Immagine Ritrovato, Karel Lamač’s “Miss Saxophone” (1928), and Karl Grune’s “The Street” (1923) courtesy of Filmmuseum München.
