Jamaican sensation Beres Hammond returns to NJPAC (1 Center Street, Newark) this summer for a vibrant night of roots and jam music. Featuring a dancing selection of uplifting reggae songs with the legendary Jamaican lovers’ rock singer, known for hits like “One Love, One Life” and “Rockaway.” He will be joined by special guests Romain Virgo and Louie Culture. A Grammy-nominated reggae icon, Beres Hammond has been spinning diverse riddim tracks for nearly 40 years.

The night also brings the Queen of Reggae, Marcia Griffiths, known as the Empress of Reggae, as she celebrates an impressive 60-year journey in the music industry.

Led by Trumpet master Sean Jones, NYO Jazz, Carnegie Hall’s big band reunites extraordinary young jazz artists from all over country. For their next performance, on Saturday July 26 at 7pm, NYO Jazz will feature Grammy Award–winning vocalist Luciana Souza paying homage to iconic Brazilian composers such as Antônio Carlos Jobim and Ivan Lins. The band’s stylistic range is highlighted further in pieces and arrangements by John Clayton, Christine Jensen, Thad Jones, Christian McBride, Vince Mendoza, and others. Blue Curtain wraps up its 2025 season of world-class global music with a free concert by Elida Almeida, one of Africa’s most captivating contemporary voices, on Saturday, July 26 at 8pm at the Princeton High School Performing Arts Center, 16 Walnut Lane. Born on the island of Santiago in Cape Verde, Elida Almeida blends traditional Cape Verdean rhythms—batuque, funaná, coladera, and tabanka—with Latin energy and contemporary sounds.
