The largest New Jersey cultural festival is now in full swing around Atlantic City, Asbury Park and Newark. In its third edition, the Prudential/NJPAC produced event will headline many American stars and bands, as well as showcasing small, emerging artists from the area.
Among the highlights, Mexican superstar Natalia Lafourcade brings her smooth voice to NJPAC on Thursday, June 19. On the next day, Canadian indie rock group Third Eye Blind will deliver their powerful melodies and dancing beats.
On Saturday, June 21, Marvel star and popular comedian Kumail Nanjiani brings his latest tour, Doing This Again, promising a night of outrageous fun.
The revolutionary rock of Stone Temple Pilots will heat up the stage on Thursday June 26, with special guest The Parlor Mob. @SummerStage Central Park
One of this generation’s most celebrated Brazilian artists, IZA, will take the stage at Central Park’s SummerStage alongside Ile Aie, the traditional and veteran afro-afoxe group hailing from Salvador, Bahia. Presented in partnership with the 29th Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival, the event celebrates Brazilian culture, music and heritage on August 31 from 6pm to 10pm. Free. @Film at Lincoln Center
The New York Asian Film Foundation and Film at Lincoln Center present the 24th edition of the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), from July 11 to July 27. Taking place across four NYC venues—Film at Lincoln Center, SVA Theatre, LOOK Cinemas W57, and the Korean Cultural Center NY, this year’s festival will feature more than 100 films, including 75 premieres. Among the highlights, “Pavane for an Infant” by Chong Keat Aun exploring Malaysia’s hidden crises; Japanese cult director Toshiaki Toyoda’s “Transcending Dimensions” blending sci-fi and gangster thriller, and Korean director Lee Jong-suk’s “Forbidden Fairytale”, a fearless satire on sex, porn, and censorship.
