The festival will open with the North American premiere of the documentary feature MY AUNT TOTY (Mi t\u00eda Toty) by LE\u00d3N<br \/>\nFELIPE TROYA, a portrait of Toty Rodr\u00edguez, the Ecuadorian actress who made her career in France in the 1960s who became a well-known diva in the South American country, and an icon of the women&#8217;s rights<br \/>\nmovement in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Other highlights of the festival\u2019s third edition include the Rotterdam Film Festival favorite ALBA, the auspicious debut feature by ANA CRISTINA BARRAG\u00c1N, the Ecuadorian candidate to the 88<sup>th<\/sup> Academy Awards SUCH IS LIFE IN THE TROPICS Sin muertos no hay carnaval by SEBASTI\u00c1N CORDERO, and ALEXANDRA CUESTA\u2019s<br \/>\nTERRITORIO, which had its world premiere at FID Marseille last year.<br \/>\nExpected to attend this year\u2019s edition are 20 guests including directors Cordero and Barrag\u00e1n, and actors TOTY RODRIGUEZ, \u00a0ANDR\u00c9S CRESPO, and ROBERTO MANRIQUE.<\/p>\n<p>EFFNY will present two awards. A jury composed of renowned film professionals composed by film programmer and documentary \ufb01lmmaker MAR\u00cdA CAMPA\u00d1A, Tribeca Film Festival\u2019s LORREN HAMMONDS and film<br \/>\nscholar MARGUERITA TORTORA, founder and director of the Latino and Iberian Film Festival at Yale, will present the award for Best Film, and the public attending the screenings will vote for the Audience<br \/>\nAward.<\/p>\n<p>The Ecuadorian Film Festival in New York is produced in partnership with Brooklyn\u2019s Syndicated Bar Theater Kitchen, and made possible thanks to the generous support of the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador<br \/>\nand Telemundo 47.
