Renowned filmmaker Eytan Fox\u2019s new film is a colorful comedy that cheers up the cold season with a lovely simplicity, and an enthusiastic message of optimistic perspectives for discouragement that affects many, in both the new generation and those dealing with a mid-life crisis. Structured over a young blogger narrator, the story seems a bit silly initially but soon it shows where the characters are going with a humorous twist on the modern issue of standing up for your rights and fighting for self accomplishment. Even at moments when the plot looks absurd and clich\u00e9, there\u2019s a magical witty around it that creates a heart-warming feeling. Each individual\u2019s dilemmas are shown with an incredible good taste of satire, proving Fox\u2019s talent for comedy: the blogger who\u2019s looking for meaning and a soul mate, the conservative workaholic who assists the Minister and still lives with her father, the gay teacher who\u2019s struggling to maintain the discretion of his relationship with a closeted famous guy, the aging baker who was recently abandoned by her husband, a hot secretary and the young hipster singer looking for the perfect deal. As the director presents these different neighbors in such an unusual situation, gathered to form a band, joining forces to compete on a Eurovision-style Song Contest, representing Israel, the film sounds universal, reaching the audience\u2019s affection in order to follow its characters through their journey into fame, self contentment and relief. The cast is completely comfortable in their roles, exploring a fantasy territory leading to a funny look on manners, hypocrisy and social connections. The irresistible message of going after your dreams and facing the obstacles and challenges fearlessly brings the right amount of joy and motivation needed for some time of escapism.
