On October 4th, acclaimed and prolific Grammy-nominated clarinetist-saxophonist Anat Cohen brings her expressive artistry and magnetic stage presence back to Miller. Named \u201cClarinetist of the Year\u201d by the Jazz Journalists Association every year since 2007 and a perennial favorite in DownBeat\u2019s critics and readers polls, Cohen and her vibrant quartet perform an evening of music rich with swing, Brazilian rhythms, and adventurous improvisation. Anat Cohen\u2019s Quartetinho artists are Anat Cohen, clarinet, Vitor Gon\u00e7alves, piano, Tal Mashiach, bass and James Shipp on drums. Saturday October 4th at 7:30pm at Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway at 116th Street. Subway 1). The Arpino Dance Festival features some of the hottest dancers selected from companies across the country, such as Dance Theatre of Harlem, San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Ballet West, Oklahoma City Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet and AVID Dance. The 2 programs show includes favorite pieces \u201cLight Rain\u201d and \u201cSea Shadow\u201d as well as some rarely performed, \u201cBirthday Variations\u201d and \u201cValentine\u201d among others. Considered as the most important festival on the East Coast and showcasing the most celebrated and Awards-buzz projects of the year, the NYFF 2025 opens with \u201cAfter the Hunt\u201d starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield and closes with Bradley Cooper\u2019s third directorial effort \u201cIs This Thing On?\u201d. Other highlights include Free Talks with professionals, shorts and revivals, and Currents, a sidebar line up of bolder and inventive worldwide works screening gems such as Radu Jude\u2019s \u201cDracula\u201d and Lucio Castro\u2019s \u201cDrunken Noodles\u201d.
