@Lincoln Center

The largest cultural institution in New York is hosting three free events this week, open to all ages and families. On Thursday, the annual Table of Silence Project 9/11 takes place at 8:10 am remembering and honoring those lost that day. It’s a 150-plus dancers’ performance conceived and choreographed by Jacqulyn Buglisi.

On Friday at 7:30pm, Cuban music will keep participants vibrating with percussionist Miguelito “Pachá” Pozo and his band La Charanga Pachá delivering the finest in Salsa and other Afro-Cuban rhythms. A Lincoln Center presentation, ¡VAYA! is a free showcase for NYC’s finest Latin music and dance traditions.

And rock will dominate the 40th anniversary of BRC (The Black Rock Coalition), on Saturday at 7:30pm, featuring epic performances from the most powerful songs from Rock n Roll Reparations. Under the direction of guitar virtuoso Marcus Machado, BRC was founded by producer Konda Mason, guitarist Vernon Reid (of Living Colour), and journalist Greg Tate. All shows are free.
