One of Brazil’s music treasures, Joao Bosco is celebrating 80 years old with a major tour around the USA and Princeton University’s McCarter Theatre will host his new show on Saturday, April 25th. An inventive musician who had collaborated with other giants of Brazilian music, Bosco will be sharing the stage with world-class musicians such as Ricardo Silveira on guitar, Guto Wirttin on bass and Kiko Freitas on drums.

A Grammy winner, Bosco has composed more than 250 songs and has collaborated with Tom Jobim, Elis Regina and many others. Following the concert, there will be an after party “roda de samba” style. At 7:30pm. Tickets start at $39. INFO: www.mccarter.org

The music of John Coltrane will be celebrated at NJPAC, 1 Center Street, on Saturday, April 18th as a master quartet takes the stage for “Coltrane 100: Both Directions at Once”. A special celebration in tribute of the groundbreaking jazz legend on the 100th anniversary of his birth,saxophonists Joe Lovano and Melissa Aldano, pianist Nduduzo Makhathini, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts will lead the night with modern interpretations of Coltrane’s most notorious compositions.
