@NewFest NYC

The 37th annual LGBTQ+ Festival returns to New York City featuring parties, premieres in movies, tv and other mediums, as well as conversations with professionals and lots of fun. NewFest NYC 2025 will take place October 9 – 21at SVA Theater in Manhattan and at BAM in Brooklyn.

Among the highlights, two Brazilian films will have their premieres. “Night Stage” which is among this year’s hottest queer love stories follows a rising actor and an important politician entangled in a complex relationship, and “Only Good Things” directed by Daniel Nolasco and exploring the romance between a lone farmer and a mysterious biker.

The opening night film and party will feature Award-buzz drama “Bluemoon” directed by American iconic filmmaker Richard Linklater and starring Ethan Hawke in a tour-de-force performance. Tickets are now on sale. In person and available to stream online with a pass. INFO: https://newfest.org/

@NJPAC

The eternal Jersey Boy is returning to NJPAC (1 Center Street, Newark) for what’s said to be his final tour. Frankie Valli will sure melt your heart with a nostalgic, feel-good, energized and ultra cool final performance at the most prestigious theater in New Jersey.

It’s the perfect place for a celebratory farewell fueled with fans favorites such as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”, “December ‘63” and “Rag Doll” among many other hits. @The Joyce Theater

France’s acclaimed Ballet Preljocaj returns to The Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue) featuring the North American premiere of “Gravity”, a lavish and breathtaking spectacle.

Celebrated for its athleticism and precision, the company has been captivating audiences at major venues in Europe such as Théâtre National and Grande Halle de La Villette, the Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles, and the Grand Théâtre de Provence. Under the artistic direction of visionary choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, this ravishing contemporary ballet features an inventive and unique movement language challenging physics and spaces. @Miller Theatre

Known for carrying the traditions of jazz with fervor and unique passion, Sean Mason has become one of today’s most prominent pianists and composers. Making his debut at Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway, Columbia University) along with his quartet, the young music director will feature an evening with sophisticated tunes, spanning from original works to his influences, including roots jazz from the 1920’s. Performers: Sean Mason, piano; Anthony Hervey, trumpet; Felix Moseholm, bass, and Hank Allen-Barfield, drums.

The Museum of Modern Art (11 West 53rd Street) presents “Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective”, the first major museum exhibition to fully consider every aspect of the artist’s expansive, groundbreaking practice. On view from October 19, 2025, through February 7, 2026, the exhibition celebrates the centennial of the artist’s birth, featuring 300 objects that highlight the dimensions of Asawa’s practice. Spanning six decades of Asawa’s ambitious career, it features works in wire sculptures, bronze casts, paper folds, paintings, and a comprehensive body of works on paper.
