Presenting new songs for the Holidays Season, Trisha Yearwood brings her “ChristmasTime” tour to Newark’s NJPAC on Friday, December 5th at 8pm.
A cheerful Christmas experience with the best beats of American country, Trisha has garnered numerous GRAMMYs, CMA, and ACM Awards, considered one of the greatest female country stars. Paul Taylor Dance Company continues its exuberant Holidays season at Lincoln Center’s David Koch Theater through November 23rd. Highlights include two World Premieres by its Resident Choreographers, Lauren Lovette and Robert Battle. The program also brings the revival of Emmy Award-winning “Speaking in Tongues”, which depicts the turmoil of America’s sociopolitical crisis, and the enchanting and humorous “Gossamer Gallants” a meditation on nature and its mysterious creatures. The season features live music performed by Orchestra of St. Luke’s under the baton of David LaMarche and Tara Simoncic. Kid-friendly Family Express matinee is on November 22, offering a special 75-minute, intermission-free program to cheer up audiences of all ages. Tickets start at $22. As part of the Free events series taking place at Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium, Arizona-based singer-songwriter Yasmeen will make her debut on Saturday November 22nd at 7:30pm. Blending contemporary gospel, relevant messages, pop and R&B, the artist will present songs from her album, “Assyria” fueled by Middle Eastern influences, the massive hit “Half of Me”, as well as other hits. Making its NY premiere at The Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue), choreographer Ephrat Asherie and Grammy award-winning pianist and cultural activist Arturo O’Farrill’s collaborative work “Shadow Cities” explores the connection between communities, generations, cultures, music and dance, rooted in African rhythms and styles. Formed by an energized and diverse cast of six dancers and four musicians, the Ephrat Asherie Dance (EAD) promises a riveting modern experience on street dance, hip hop, breaking, house and waacking. The large-scale exhibition “Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective” is on view now on the 6th floor at Museum of Modern Arts (11 West 53rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues). The African Diaspora International Film Festival returns to Cinema Village, 22 East 12th Street, for its 2025 edition. The 33rd ADIFF runs November 28th thru December 14th with Premieres, revivals, parties and insightful conversations with filmmakers. Among the highlights, Brazilian filmmaker Antonio Pitanga’s epic “Malês: The Revolt”, Andre Gaines’ “The Dutchman” starring Aldis Hodge, André Holland, Kate Mara, and Zazie Beetz, and Ethiopian dramatic thriller “Megnot”. Celebrating the contemporary work of Recife-born filmmaker Kleber Mendonca Filho, Metrograph is presenting a retrospective of his films, including his several shorts. Taking place November 21-29, the series will open with a Shorts Program on Friday November 21st and closes on the 29th with the screening of “Aquarius” starring Sonia Braga. Other titles include his masterpiece “Neighboring Sounds”, Oscar-hopeful “The Secret Agent” and the ultra-violent “Bacurau”.
