Winner of 2 Golden Globes including Best Actor Drama and Best Non-English Film, and poised for Oscar glory, Kleber Mendonca Filho’s “The Secret Agent” continues its successful theatrical run at the elegant, built-in café, 3-theater institution Film at Lincoln Center, located at both 144 and 165 on West 65th Street (Subway 1). Anchored by an outstanding performance by Bahia-born versatile actor Wagner Moura, the film follows the journey of a mysterious man running away from political tension and a team of killers, while attempting to reunite with his son.

Set in the late 70’s during the peak of dictatorship in Recife, Brazil, it tracks political corruption, abuse of power, and comradeship with a fascinating and meticulously crafted nostalgic aesthetic, including the perfect cinematography and impeccable set designs. The magnificent Flamenco diva Soledad Barrio and her superb group of singers and dancers return to The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue @19th Street, for another set of thrilling and exuberant traditional Flamenco with a modern twist. One of the most celebrated Flamenco artists in the globe, Soledad Barrio has created the group Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenco along with her husband, the director and choreographer Martin Santangelo. A collective celebration of the Flamenco spirit and traditions, as well as its undeniable influence in today’s modern scenario, the group will present “Irrationalities”, a new work inspired by Goya’s Human Follies. Final days to discover the unique world of artist Ruth Asawa as the Museum of Modern Arts, 11 West 53rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, presents the extensive exhibition “Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective”. On view on the 6th floor, it’s a fascinating and dazzling compilation of large wire sculptures, bronze casts, paper folds, paintings, photography and documents. Featuring more than 300 objects, including home videos and interviews, it’s an accurate retrospective spanning her career and various artistry mediums. On view through February 7th. Tickets $30.
