The annual Rendez-Vous with French Cinema film festival returns to Film at Lincoln Center March 5th thru the 15th. Presented in partnership with UniFrance, the 31st edition brings some exciting and acclaimed films such as Francois Ozon’s latest sexy thriller “The Stranger” which has been nominated for 4 Cesar Awards, including Best Actor, Cannes winner Julia Ducournau’s audacious epidemic set “Alpha” and the migrant tale “Enzo”, the collaborative work by late filmmaker Laurent Cantet and Robin Campillo. @The Joyce Theater

Returning to The Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue, 19th Street) the fabulous Trinity Irish Dance Company celebrates 35 years in innovation and representation of Irish step dance led by Artistic Director Mark Howard and Associate Artistic Director Chelsea Hoy. Blending Irish traditional dances with a vibrant American modern vision, the Chicago-based company will delight audiences with a dazzling program that includes the world premiere of “SÉseacht (shay-shokht)” by the wonderful tap star Michelle Dorrance created in collaboration with the dancers, and the New York premiere of “The Sash”, choreographed by Mark Howard, Chelsea Hoy, and Stephanie Martinez. Featuring original live music performed by the company’s band.

The exuberant and extensive exhibition on Cuban-born, African-Chinese artist Wifredo Lam is on view at The Museum of Modern Arts (11 West 53rd Street) until April. Made of large modernist paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints and other mediums, the collection celebrates the legacy and influential artistry of the revolutionary artist. It also explores the history of Afro-Caribbean relations and the connection to other cultures. Paintings of landscapes, random encounters, mystical figures, folklore and daily observations are constant subjects in his work. “Wifredo Lam: When I Don’t Sleep, I Dream” is the first retrospective in the country to feature the full trajectory of Lam’s remarkable vision. America’s favorite comedian George Lopez comes to Newark’s NJPAC on Saturday, February 28th at 8pm promising a night of irreverence and outrageous fun. Known as one of America’s funniest comedians, TV star and producer George Lopez will present some of his insights on Latin American culture, politics, modern behavior and other issues, creating a hilarious night for the audience. NJPAC, 1 Center Street, Newark will host this celebrated artist who’s been in specials at ABC, NetFlix, TBS as well as many movies and currently on the NBC sitcom “Lopez vs. Lopez”.
