Energetic, athletic, sensual and vigorous, Complexions is back for its 27th season at The Joyce Theater. From November 16 thru 28 audiences and dance lovers alike will have the delight to check the company’s most beloved pieces performed live on stage again.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet blends modern dance, classic and innovational to the sound of eclectic music from Beethoven to Jon Batiste and from Tye Tribbett to Lenny Kravitz, which the company’s hit ballet “Love Rocks” is danced to. During its season at the Joyce, located at 175 8th Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan, Complexions will present two varied programs, each in a different week, including the World Premiere of their latest work, “Snatched Back From the Edges” exploring themes of isolation, racial injustice, activism and love through this generation’s perspective. The piece features a diverse soundtrack and each vignette tells a personal story in response to real emotions. In the second week, the Company will present “Truly, Madly, Deeply” a compilation of favorite dances focusing on the infinite beauty of the heart. Tickets $10.-$75. INFO: www.Joyce.org

The annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival held at NJPAC- New Jersey Performing Arts Center kicks off its 2021 season with a prestigious lineup of the best in contemporary, classic, international and traditional jazz, as well as dance and gospel, displaying the effervescent variety of rhythms in amazing and distinctively intimate shows at the beautiful Prudential Hall and other venues. The 10th TD James Moody Jazz Festival starts next Friday November 5th with the amazing presentation of Django Festival Allstars, and goes on thru November 21st with other fantastic performances. Among the highlights, Arturo O’Farrill and His Afro-Jazz Latin Orchestra, Anat Cohen, Christian McBride, Chris Botti, Chaka Khan, Dianne Reeves, just to name a few of the Award-winning stars appearing at this year’s celebration of Jazz in New Jersey.
