The largest pop culture convention in the US returns to Javits Center (429 11th Ave), October 17-20 featuring the latest in cosplay, games, series, and all the innovation brought by advanced technology. Multi-talented comedian, activist and actor Eddie Izzard returns to NJPAC (1 Center Street) this Friday, October 11th at 8pm for a night of unexpected and surreal comedy. An icon at both the comedy and the theatre, she had just performed “Hamlet” to sold-out crowds around the globe, including cities in the US. Reflecting on over 35 years of career, audiences will be thrilled and amused with her greatest stories fueled by sharp commentary and irreverence. “The Remix Tour Live- The First 35 Years” promises to be an unforgettable night of uncontrollable laughter. The 36th annual New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival takes over the Big Apple October 10-22 featuring over 140 new films exploring the Queer universe throughout feature films, shorts, episodic and exclusive parties. The 2024 edition will screen films at SVA Theater, BAM, Nitehawk Prospect Park and The Center. Independent Spirit Award winner Roshan Sethi’s “A Nice Indian Boy” opens the Festival, while Cannes sensation and Oscar-buzz “Emilia Perez” is the Closing Night selection. Movies from all over the globe, including Latin America, will also get US Premieres, including Juan Pablo Di Pace and Andrés P. Estrada’s highly anticipated nostalgic “Duino” and Lola Arias’ “Reas” a musical set at a women’s prison in Buenos Aires. Former Principal Dancer of the Ballet Nacional de España, Sergio Bernal will make his solo debut in the US at The Joyce Theater, (175 Eighth Avenue, Manhattan). Sergio Bernal Dance presents “A Night with Sergio Bernal”, his first full-length program created by himself and choreographer Ricardo Cue. Blending the electrifying beats of Flamenco to the glamorous aesthetic of classic ballet, Bernal will be joined live by three renowned musicians and a fabulous group of award-winning Flamenco dancers.
