Kicking off its annual Picnic Performances at the lawn, Bryant Park will host a weekend of contemporary dance bringing some of the most exciting dancers in the industry. On Friday, June 10th at 7pm, Black-female led troupe EMERGE125 will showcase their unique style and vibrant movements. The renowned tap dancer and choreographer Ayodele Casel also performs. On June 11th the series will celebrate the rhythms of Latin music and dance, with performances by Ballet Hispanico and Music from the Sole, a company influenced by Afro-Brazilian culture and styles led by choreographer Leonardo Sandoval. As part of the Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York, the iconic saxophonist Kenny G will perform at the historic The Town Hall, 123 43rd Street in Times Square, on Friday, June 3rd at 8pm. A phenomenon of soft and smooth jazz in the 90’s and a Grammy Award-winning musician, Kenny G is internationally famous for his romantic, easy-listening compositions, and continues to perform and enchant audiences all over the Globe. Celebrate Father’s Day with the traditional comedy show Earthquake’s Father’s Day Comedy Show at NJPAC, 1 Center Street in Newark. On Sunday, June 19th starting at 7pm, Earthquake will host a night of hilarious stories, jokes and anecdotes, commanded by stand-up stars such as Donnell Rawlings, Bill Bellamy and Jessica Moore and other special guests. Born in Newark, Bill Bellamy has appeared in many TV shows and movies including “Any Given Sunday”. Earthquake continues his successful career on stage and on screen, recently selected by Dave Chapelle for his Netflix show. And Instagram’s queen of comedy, Jessica “Jess Hilarious” Moore has opened shows for many renowned stars such as Mo’Nique and Martin Lawrence. A sensational comedy show like nothing before. Promoted by Film at Lincoln Center and Governors Island, the 2022 Free Outdoor Movies Series kicks off next Friday, June 3rd at the Great Lawn. Bring a towel or a chair, and enjoy food and drinks, and live music by a guest DJ, while waiting for the sunset. Then, check out the cult modern classic “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” under the stars and cooling off with the Island’s fresh-air breeze. The program starts at 7pm. After performing to great acclaim in Australia and Canada, Annerin Productions presents “Celtic Illusion”, a vibrant fusion of contemporary Irish dance, magic and grand illusions.
