Parsons Dance, one of the most revered and inventive modern dance companies in the globe is returning for its annual two-week program at the celebrated dance venue The Joyce Theater in New York City.

From March 15 thru 26 the dancers of the NYC-base company will present in-full their ability and harmony with the stage featuring two Premieres as well as revivals of some of the company’s most vital works.

Choreographed by Parsons Dance 2023 GenerationNOW Fellow Rena Butler, “The Ride Through” is described as “a series of intimate urgencies set on a surrealistic landscape”, while the Season’s second World Premiere, David Parsons’ “The Withers” with music from Bill Withers, is a funky, upbeat ode to the creator of hits such as “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “lean On Me” and his effervescent dancing style.

Rounding up the program, fans of Mr. Parsons’ work and the electrifying dancers will have a chance to revive revered originals which reflects on the company’s repertory in the last 4 decades:

BALANCE OF POWER (2020) featuring a driving percussion soundscape performed live by composer Giancarlo De Trizio;

SWING SHIFT (2003), featuring live music by Kenji Bunch and a re-staging of this classic piece in celebration of its 20th anniversary.

The gorgeous, lively NASCIMENTO (1990), with music by Minas Gerais-born celebrated composer and singer Milton Nascimento.

And the sensational, eye-popping CAUGHT (1982), with music by Robert Fripp, which is the one of the company’s most inventive, exquisite works and continues to dazzle audiences over and over for the last 40 years.

The Joyce Theater is located at 175 8th Avenue, 19th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan NYC. Go to www.Joyce.org to purchase tickets from $10 to $65 and details.
